About Jinnah Park

Jinnah Park is a recreational area and open space situated on Airport Road in Rawalpindi, Pakistan's high-security Chaklala Cantonment neighbourhood. It is the main amusement park in the community and is about 17 hectares in size (42 acres). The initial intentions for its construction date back to 1995, and it was inaugurated in 2006. It bears Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah's name, who founded Pakistan and served as its first Governor-General. At the park's main entrance, there are statues of Jinnah and his surname.

History

Very few people are aware that the location of this park was formerly The District Jail Rawalpindi, where Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, a popular former leader of Pakistan, was hanged in 1979. In 1986, the jail was destroyed and moved to Adyala Rawalpindi. The Rawalpindi Development Authority began planning the park in 1995, and it was opened in 2006. It is known as "Quaid e Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah" and is one of the city's main amusement parks. It is named after the nation's founding father. Visitors without vehicles must pay Rs. 30 for parking while pedestrians are admitted free of charge. With proper safety and security checks, there is a sizable parking area.

Cultural Monuments & Greenery

From the park's entrance, a stroll through the grounds offers picturesque views where you can capture priceless photos of fountains, lush green gardens, and historical landmarks. The park has a seating area with Baloch, Punjabi, Pakhtoon, and Sindhi turbans and caps that beautifully represent the diverse cultures of the country's four provinces. Another structure, called "Unity Towers," represents the four provinces of the nation in a similar way. The park has a good collection of horticulture work with a variety of plant specimens, such as a cactus section, different rose varieties, and many other lovely flowers.
